સ્ટોરીલાઈન:
ફિલ્મની સ્ટોરી અભિષેક બેનર્જીએ લખેલી છે. ફિલ્મની સ્ટોરીમાં 90ના દશકમાં બાંગ્લાદેશ અને કલકત્તા વચ્ચે જે મહત્વપૂર્ણ ઘટનાઓ ઘટી તેને દર્શાવવામાં આવી છે. સ્ટોરીનું બેકગ્રાઉન્ડ ઇફરત(ઇવિલ સ્પિરીટ) દ્વારા જન્મેલા બાળકોનો વિનાશ કઈ રીતે થાય છે તેના પર આધારિત છે. જેને હોરર સ્વરૂપ આપવામાં આવ્યું છે. સ્ટોરીની શરૂઆત અર્નબ(પરમ્બ્રતા ચેટરજી) અને પિયાલી(રીતાભરી ચક્રવર્તી) ની પ્રથમ મુલાકાતથી થાય છે અને અર્નબના જીવનમાં રુખસાના(અનુષ્કા શર્મા) પ્રવેશ કરે છે. સ્ટોરીમાં એક પછી એક નવા વળાંકો આવે છે. ફિલ્મની સ્ટોરીમાં નવીનતા છે, પરંતુ સ્ક્રીનપ્લે નબળું હોવાના કારણે ઘણા મહત્વપૂર્ણ દ્રશ્યોમાં સ્ટોરી કઈક અલગ જ રૂપ લઇ લે છે,જે ફિલ્મને નબળી અને સ્લો બનાવી દે છે.

નિર્દેશન અને અભિનય:
નવોદિત નિર્દેશક પ્રોસિત રોયએ આ ફિલ્મનું નિર્દેશન કર્યું છે. પ્રોસિત રોયે તેની પહેલી જ ફિલ્મમાં સારું નિર્દેશન કરી એ પુરવાર કર્યુ છે કે તેઓ આગળ વર્ષોમાં આ ફિલ્મી ઉદ્યોગમાં છવાઈ જશે. તેઓએ સ્ટોરીના દરેક દ્રશ્યોનો ઝીણવટપૂર્વક અભ્યાસ કર્યો છે અને તેને ફિલ્મમાં આગવું સ્વરૂપ આપ્યું છે એ પછી ઈમોશનલ દ્રશ્ય હોય કે હોરર દ્રશ્ય હોય, બધા જ દ્રશ્યો ફિલ્મને તીવ્ર પ્રભાવશાળી બનાવે છે.
ફિલ્મની મુખ્ય અભિનેત્રી અનુષ્કા શર્માએ તેની ક્ષમતા પ્રમાણે ખુબ જ સારો અભિનય કર્યો છે. અનુષ્કા શર્માને આ પ્રકારની ભૂમિકા(સ્પિરીટની દીકરીની ભૂમિકા) નિભાવવાની તક પહેલી વાર મળી છે અને દર્શકોને અનુષ્કા શર્માનો અભિનય નવો ઉપરાંત એકદમ સહજ પણ લાગે છે. ફિલ્મના બીજા મુખ્ય પાત્રની વાત કરીએ તો અર્નબની ભૂમિકા નિભાવનાર પરમ્બ્રતા ચેટરજી પણ તેના પ્રભાવશાળી તથા આનંદપ્રદ અભિનયથી દર્શકોનું દિલ જીતવામાં સફળ થાય છે અને પિયાલીની ભૂમિકા નિભાવનાર રીતાભરી ચક્રવર્તીએ તેને મળેલું નાનું પાત્ર પરંતુ ખુબ જ સારી રીતે નિભાવ્યું છે.
ફિલ્મમાં રજત કપૂર પ્રોફેસરની ભૂમિકા નિભાવી રહ્યા છે, તેનું પાત્ર ફિલ્મને વધારે મજબુત બનાવે છે. રજત કપૂર તેના સહજ અને પ્રતિભાશાળી અભિનયથી ફિલ્મને મનોરંજક અને આતુર બનાવે છે.

સંગીત અને સંવાદો:
ફિલ્મમાં સંગીત અનુપમ રોયે આપ્યું છે. ફિલ્મના આલ્બમમાં માત્ર જ 3 ગીતો છે પરંતુ તે ફિલ્મને કોઈ રીતે ફિલ્મને મનોરંજક કે અસરકારક બનાવતા નથી, લોકોએ બીજા ફિલ્મના સંગીતની તુલનામાં પસંદ કર્યું નથી. બેકગ્રાઉન્ડ સ્કોર કેતન સોઢાએ આપ્યો છે. ફિલ્મના જોનર પ્રમાણે બેકગ્રાઉન્ડ સ્કોર ખુબ જ ઉમદા છે જે ફિલ્મને રસપ્રદ બનાવે છે. ફિલ્મમાં સંવાદો અસરકારક છે પરંતુ સંવાદો કરતા અભિનય તથા સાઉન્ડ ફિલ્મને રસપ્રદ બનાવે છે.

ફિલ્મના હકારાત્મક મુદ્દાઓ:
(1) અનુષ્કા શર્માનો અભિનય
(2) બેકગ્રાઉન્ડ સ્કોર અને સાઉન્ડ

ફિલ્મમાં નકારત્મક મુદ્દાઓ :
(1) નબળી સ્ટોરીલાઈન
(2) સ્ક્રીનપ્લે
(3) સ્લો સ્ટોરીલાઈન (લગભગ સંપૂર્ણ ફિલ્મ દરમ્યાન)

સારાંશ:
ફિલ્મની સ્ટોરી અલગ છે અને અનુષ્કા શર્માનો અભિનય પ્રસંશાને પાત્ર છે પરંતુ તે ઉપરાંત લોકોની અપેક્ષા પૂરી કરવામાં આ ફિલ્મ નિષ્ફળ સાબિત થાય છે. દર્શકોને હોરર મુવીમાં અનુષ્કાનો ઉમદા અભિનય જોવો હોય તો આ ફિલ્મ તેમના માટે બેસ્ટ વિકલ્પ છે.
