A visit to the Hutheesing Jain Temple

Situated in Ahmedabad, this Jain temple is one of the most beautiful and popular Jain temples of the city. Small details on the wall of the temple are very alluring and rich carvings of the temple will leave you mesmerized. The campus of the temple is blessed with greenery and chirping birds which will make you feel relaxed. Built with white marbles, this architectural marvel has a dome at the front side. The other two sides of the temple have ornately carved galleries. You will also be able to witness a sacred place with a logo of Queen Victoria wearing Gujarati jewelry. The best thing about the temple is that it is visited by devotees of all religions.

History

The Hutheesing Jain Temple is dedicated to Dharmanatha, the 15th Jain Tirthankars. While talking with one of the caretakers of this temple, I got to know how the temple was built. As per the conversation with him, the temple was built by an Ahmedabadi merchant named Seth Hutheesing, and the approximate cost of building the temple back in 1848 was 12 lakh rupees. Unfortunately, Seth Hutheesing died at the age of 49 but the construction of the temple was yet to finish. Later, his wife fulfilled the responsibility of supervising the construction of the temple.
