                            … તમે ગાઝી એટેક ફિલ્મ જોઈ છે ? શ્વાસ થંભાવી દે તેવી થ્રીલર. છેક છેલ્લી ધડી સુધી અનિશ્ચતતા            અને આશંકા પરંતુ વિજય ‘ ગાઝી ‘  સામે ‘રાજપૂત’નો . ખેર, એ ફિલ્મ તો એક નાનું એવું ‘ સેમ્પલ ‘ કહી શકાય કારણ કે ‘ ગાઝી ‘ અને તેની બર્બાદી સાથે સંકળાયેલી આખી ગાથા તો ભારત પાકિસ્તાન ના ૧૯૭૧ ના બહુચર્ચીત યુધ્ધનો એક નાનકડો પણ મહત્વપૂર્ણ હિસ્સો માત્ર છે. શું હતુ આ યુધ્ધ ? આ યુધ્ધએ એશિયા ઉપખંડની રાજનૈતિક સિકલ કઈ રીતે બદલાવી ? એક ધર્મના પાયા પર રચાયેલા દેશના બે ટુકડા કઈ રીતે થયા ? ‘ ગુંગી ગુડીયા ‘ મનાયેલા ભારતીય વડાપ્રધાને અમેરિકન રાષ્ટ્રપ્રમુખને તેનું સ્થાન કઈ રીતે બતાવી દીધુ ? આ યુધ્ધએ એવું તો શું કર્યું કે ભારત અને પાકિસ્તાન નો રાજનૈતિક અને  ભૌગોલિક ઇતિહાસ બદલાઈ ગયો ? આપણા દેશની એ સેનાની ત્રણે  પાંખોએ કયા કયા અપ્રતિમ શૌર્યનું  પ્રદર્શન કર્યું અને ક્યાં ભૂલો કરી ? આ બઘુ જાણવું હોય તો તમારે શ્રી નગેન્દ્ર વિજય લિખિત ‘યુધ્ધ ૭૧ ‘ પુસ્તક વાંચવું જ રહ્યું . આ પુસ્તક તેની ટેગલાઈનમાં જણાવ્યા અનુસાર માત્ર “ ભારત-પાક સંગ્રામની સિલસિલાબંધ સત્યકથા “ જ નથી, એ એક એવો ઐતિહાસિક દસ્તાવેજ છે જેમાં રાષ્ટ્રીય અને આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય રાજકારણના આટાપાટા અને યુધ્ધના દાવપેચની રોચક વાતો છે. પુસ્તક માત્ર પાકિસ્તાન પર ભારતના વિજય સુધી આવીને થંભી નથી જતું પરંતુ પાકિસ્તાને નાલાયકી કરીને પકડી રાખેલા આપણા વીર જવાનોની દાસ્તાન પણ કહે છે.

 કુલ ૨૩ પ્રકરણોમાં વહેંચાયેલા  આ પુસ્તકમાં ૧૯૬૫માં પાકિસ્તાનને મરણતોલ ફટકો મારવાની  ઐતિહાસિક  તક ગુમાવી ચુકેલા વડાપ્રધાન સ્વ. લાલ બહાદુર શાસ્ત્રીના નિર્ણયના વિશ્લેષણથી શરુ થઈને ભારત-પાક વચ્ચેના વિવિધ મોર્ચે લડાયેલા ૧૯૭૧ ના યુધ્ધમાં ભારતના વિજય સુધીનુ સુંદર આલેખન છે.

વિશેષત : ભારતના હજાર ટુકડા કરવાના તરંગી સ્વપ્નો જોતા પાકિસ્તાનના શાસકો અને મિલીટરી જનરલોને વડાપ્રધાન ઇન્દીરા ગાંધીએ અત્યંત કુનેહપૂર્વક અને રાજકીય ચતુરાઈથી કઈ રીતે હંફાવ્યા એ આપણા ઇતિહાસનું રસપ્રદ પાસું છે.

આ યુદ્ધના પ્રારંભ માટેના નિર્ણય , વડાપ્રધાન અને ફિલ્મ માર્શલ વચ્ચેનો સંવાદ અને યોગ્ય સમય આવ્યે દેશના ત્રણે સૈન્યદળોની તૈયારીના પ્રકરણો દીલચસ્પ છે.

               બે દેશો વચ્ચે જમીન,પાણી કે હવામાં ખેલાતા યુધ્ધો પહેલાની તૈયારીનું મહત્વનું પાસું હોય છે. ‘ઇન્ટેલીજન્સ ‘ ભારતની RAWના જાંબાઝ એ જાન પર ખેલીને પાકિસ્તાનમાંથી મેળવેલા ‘ઇનપુટસ’ એ યુધ્ધનું પાસું પલટી નાખ્યું અને ભારતને હરાવવાના દિવાસ્વપ્નો જોતા પાકિસ્તાનના બે ટુકડા થઇ ગયા.

               સમગ્ર પુસ્તકની મહત્વપૂર્ણ વાત એ છે કે લેખકે અહી માત્ર ભારત-પાક વચ્ચેના યુધ્ધને કેન્દ્રમાં ન રાખીને ભારતે અત્યંત મુત્સ્દ્વીથી આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય રાજકારણમાં કઈ રીતે પોતાની ચાલને સફળ સાબિત કરી બતાવી તેનું ઉમદા વિશ્લેષણ કર્યું છે. પૂર્વ પાકિસ્તાનને તોડીને બાંગ્લાદેશનું નિર્માણ કરવામાં ભારતની કુટનીતિ અને લશ્કરી દળોનું અપ્રતિમ સાહસ એ રાજનીતિના અભ્યાસુઓ/ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ માટે મહત્વપુર્ણ દસ્તાવેજ છે જેનું આ પુસ્તકમાં શ્રી નગેન્દ્ર વિજયે સરળ પરંતુ રસાળ શૈલીમાં વર્ણન કર્યું છે.

               યુધ્ધની વાત હોય એટલે જય અને પરાજય બંને હોય જ. આ યુધ્ધમાં બધું જ ભારતની તરફેણમાં થયુ એવું ન હતું . લોંગેવાલાની લડાઈ જો સમયસર વાયુદળના વિમાનો ન પહોચ્યા હોત તો આપણે હારી ચુક્યા હતા.છામ્બના મોર્ચે આપણે ભયંકર ખુવારી વેઠી અને હાથમાં કઈ ન આવ્યું. પરંતુ દુશ્મનના પ્રહારોની ઝીંક ઝીલીને પરાજયને વિજયમાં ફેરવવા માટે જગ મશહુર ભારતીય સૈન્યદળો એ અપ્રતિમ શૌર્ય અને આગવી વ્યૂહરચનાઓથી આ યુધ્ધમા પાકિસ્તાનને પરાજિત કર્યું. આ યુધ્ધ પહેલા અને પછીની એશિયા અને આંતરરાષ્ટ્રીય સ્તર પરની ભારતની સ્થિતિમાં ૩૬૦ ડિગ્રીનું પરિવર્તન આવ્યું.

              આ પુસ્તક ભારતના માત્ર યુધ્ધ ઇતિહાસ જ નહિ પરંતુ સંઘર્ષ અને તેમાંથી નિપજતા રાજકારણનું ઉત્તમ ઉદાહરણ સમજવા માટેનું શ્રેષ્ઠ માધ્યમ છે. જુલાઈ ૨૦૧૮માં તેની ત્રીજી આવૃત્તિ પ્રસિધ્ધ થઈ છે. વિવિધ સામાજિક , રાજનૈતિક  વિચારધારાઓમાં વિશ્વાસ કરતાં ભારતીય નાગરિકો / વિદ્યાર્થીઓએ આ પુસ્તક અચૂક વાંચવું જોઈએ. એ માત્ર ભારતીય સૈન્યદળોના વિજયનું ‘બ્યુગલ ’ જ નથી પરંતુ ભારતના અપમાન બોધના અવસાદની ઔષધી પણ છે.
