जब ईश्वर ने मुझे इस दुनिया में बिटिया के रूप में भेजा होगा,

मात-पिता का चयन पहले से उसने ही किया होगा,

देकर जन्म माँ-पापा के आँगन में मँद-मँद ऊपरवाला भी मुस्कुराया होगा।

 

जब उँगली पकड़कर मुझे आप दोनों ने चलना सिखाया होगा,

बड़े अरमानो से फिर मुझे गोद में बिठाया होगा,

‘बेटी नहीं बेटा है तू मेरा’ कहकर जब पुकारा होगा,

हर बेटी का अस्तित्व धन्य-सा हो गया होगा।

 

पहली बार जब पढ़ने के लिए पाठशाला माँ रखने आयी थी,

नन्हें-नन्हें हाथों में वह कलम- पुस्तक थमा गयी थी,

उस दिन से माँ-पापा ने एक नयी ज़िन्दगी की रचना की थी,

एक उम्मींदो की कडी फिर मुझसे जुड़ गयी थी।

 

जब-जब भी कभी हालातों से डरकर मैं सहम-सी जाती थी,

हिम्मत बनकर माता –पिता ने मुझे, एक नयी राह दिखाई थी,

ज़िन्दगी के इस दौर में धीरे- धीरे मैं बड़ी हो गयी थी,

तभी अचानक एक समय पर कुछ घटना-सी घट गयी थी।

 

नकारात्मक विचारों का दौर मेरे मस्तिष्क में शुरू हो गया था,

पापा अब मैं ना पढ़ पाऊँगी यही एक शब्द मुँह पर रट गया था,

लोग क्या कहेंगे मम्मी-पापा को यही डर मन में बैठ गया था,

होकर निराश भी इस दौर में, आप ने यही समझाया था,

“तुम कर सकती हो बेटा मेरी” यही बात बतलाया था।

 

सुनकर पापा की बातों को कुछ हिम्मत-सी आ गयी थी,

तभी देखते-देखते इम्तहान शुरू हो गयी थी,

पाकर परिणाम इम्तहान-का उस वक़्त आँखें भर-सी गयी थी,

माँ-पापा के भरोसे की जीत फिर से हो गयी थी।

 

हर जिद्द को मेरी पूरा किया हैं, बिन-बोले सबकुछ समझ लिया हैं,

मुझसे भी ज्यादा आप दोनों ने मुझपर विश्वास किया हैं,

आज मैं कहना चाहती हूँ, कभी वो विश्वास नहीं टूटेगा,

बस एक शर्त रखती हूँ की, यह हाथ सिर से कभी नहीं उठेगा,

 

हो जाऊँ अगर मैं पराये घर की फिर भी बेटी आपकी कहलाऊँगी

माँ-पापा आपके चरणों में कर सत्-सत् नमन झुक जाऊँगी,

हे प्रभु एक विनती आज तुझसे भी करना चाहुँगी,

हर बेटी को खुशीयाँ मिले यही बात दोहराऊँगी,

और हर जनम अपने माता-पिता की बिटिया बनकर आना चाहुँगी।
