નાનાનાં સાહસની વાત

બધાએ જમી લીધું. ત્યારબાદ મામા અગરબત્તીનાં ઓલાય ગયાં બાદ વધેલી સોના જેવી પીળાશ પડતી સળીથી દાંત ખોતરતાં-ખોતરતાં જડબાંને થોડું ત્રાંસુ કરીને બોલ્યાં,

“બેટા અભિષેક હાય્લ આપણૅ મામો-ભાણિયો બજાર ઢૂંકડો આંટો મારી આવ્યે. તારાં નાના માટે સેકેલી સોપારી પણ લેવાની સે ઈ પણ લૈ આવ્યે ને આપણે પણ પાન-માવો-બીડી જે હાલે એ લગાવી આવીએ.”

હું અને મામા ગામમાં બજાર તરફ નીકળ્યાં. રસ્તો કાચો ધૂળીયો હતો. જેનાં પર ખુબ જ અંધારું હતું. અમુક જગ્યાઓ પર ઇલેક્ટ્રિક ટ્યુબલાઈટનાં થાંભલાં લગાવેલાં હતા, જયારે પ્રકાશની તુલનામાં અંધારું આ કાચા રસ્તાઓ પોતાનું સ્વરાજ દેખાડી અભિમાન કરતું હોય એવું લાગ્યું. લગભગ દસેક મિનિટ ચાલ્યાં બાદ એક ઓરડી દેખાઈ. ધૂળિયા પરંતુ મજબૂત ભૂખરાં બેલાથી બનેલી એ ઓરડી હતી. જેમાં પ્લાસ્ટર કરવાનું ભુલાય ગયું હોય કે પછી જાણી-જોઈને કર્યું જ નહીં હોય તે હવે ઓરડીનો માલિક જ જાણે. નજીક પહોંચતા ખબર પડી કે અસલમાં આ એક પાન-બીડીની નાની દુકાન હતી. દુકાનની આસપાસ દસ-બાર લોકો ઉભા હતા. કાળઝાળ ઉનાળાની ગરમીમાં દિનભર મહેનત કરી શેકાયા બાદ લોકો રાત્રિની શીતળ હવાનો આનંદ માણવા ભેગાં થતા હશે એવું મને લાગ્યું. એવામાં અમે દુકાન પર પહોંચ્યા ત્યાં જ બધાએ સુખામામાને આદર સાથે એક પછી એક સંબોધવા લાગ્યાં. લોકોનું સુખામામા પ્રત્યેનું માન જોઈ મેં તારણ કાઢ્યું કે મામાનું ગામમાં મોટું નામ હશે. સુખામામાએ પણ બધાને એક પછી એક નામથી સંબોધી રામ-રામ કરીને ખબરઅંતર પૂછ્યાં. દુકાનનાં ખૂણામાં તૂટેલાં થાંભલાને મારફતે બનાવેલી બેઠક પર કાળી અને સફેદ એમ કાબરચીતરી દાઢી ધરાવતો ચાલીસેક વર્ષની ઉંમરનો માણસ બેઠો-બેઠો બીડીનાં ઠૂંઠાની લાંબી કશ લેતો-લેતો આ બધું જોઈ રહ્યો હતો. લગભગ એ રાહ જોતો હતો કે સુખામામા તેની તરફ ક્યારે ધ્યાન આપે. સુખામામા દુકાનનાં કાઉન્ટર પર પહોંચ્યા. દુકાનદાર દ્વારા લગભગ દિવસભરની મશક્કત બાદ તૈયાર કરવામાં આવેલું એ કામચલાઉ કાઉન્ટર હતું. દુકાનદારને નાના માટે અઢીસો ગ્રામ શેકેલી સોપારી તૈયાર કાઢી રાખવાં માટે મામાએ જણાવ્યું. દરમિયાન જ મામાની નજર પેલા કાબરચીતરી દાઢી વાળા વ્યક્તિ પર પડી.

“જીગલા તું આયાં કયે આય્વો? સારું કઈરું આવી ગ્યો. હાઈલ આય્જ ઘરે મેમાન આય્વા સે. એટલે વાડીએ ભજીયાંનો પોગ્રામ ગોઠવવાનો સે. ને અડખે-પડખે ક્યાંય જનાવરનાં વાવડ છે? જો હોય તો ભાણાને લઇ જઈએ.”

હું કંઈ સમજી શકતો નહોતો કે આ વ્યક્તિ કોણ હશે? અને મામા શા માટે આ વ્યક્તિ સાથે મારી ઓળખાણ કરાવતાં હશે? એકાએક મને યાદ આવ્યું નાનાએ ભજિયાનાં પોગ્રામની વાત કરી હતી, ત્યારે મામાએ “જીગલા” નામનો ઉલ્લેખ કર્યો હતો. માટે જીગલો કંદોઈ હોવો જોઈએ. પરંતુ તે ધંધો છોડીને અહીંયા શું કરે છે? તેનો મને ખ્યાલ આવ્યો. ત્યારે બીડીનું પેલું ઠુંઠુ પૂરેપૂરું ચૂસી લીધા બાદ જીગલો બોલ્યો,

“સુખાભાઈ આતો તમે બોલાવ્યો હતો એટલે મારે આવવું પડ્યું બાકી મારે દુકાને ભીડ લાગવાની ચાલું થઇ ગઈ હતી. તમારો હકમ પડે એટલે આવવું પડે. ને જનાવરની વાત કરું તો હમણાં પાદરથી દોઢેક કિલોમીટર દૂર આવેલાં પુલની નજીક સિંહણે ત્રણ બચ્ચાઓને જનમ આપ્યો છે. સિંહણ રઘવાઈ છે. કારણ કે તેણે હમણાં જ બચ્ચાઓને જન્મ આપ્યો છે. એટલે એ સિંહણનો ભરોસો ના કરી શકાય બચ્ચાંઓના રક્ષણ માટે તે ગમે તે કરી બેસે. આજરોજ તે જ નદીકિનારે કોઈએ સિંહણ અને બચ્ચાઓનાં સગડ પણ જોયા હતા. એટલે મારા ખ્યાલ પ્રમાણે આપણે મેમાનને વાડીએ જ જનાવર દેખાડી દઈએ. શું કહો છો મેમાન?”

મેં તેમનું કહ્યું માનતા મારો જવાબ આપ્યો,

“મને એ બાબતે કાંઈ ખબર ના પડે. તમને જેમ ઠીક લાગે એમ ગોઠવો. અને કદાચ આજ ના પણ દેખાય તો અમારે તો હજું ચાર-પાંચ દિવસ રોકાવાનું છે.”

મારાં એક વાર તો પ્રશ્ન થયો કે આ સાવ ગામડિયો દેખાતો વ્યક્તિ અહીં ગીરનાં ગામમાં આવી શુદ્ધ ગુજરાતી કઈ રીતે બોલે છે? ત્યાંજ મામાએ મારો પરિચય જીગલા સાથે કરાવ્યો,

“ભાણા આ જીગલો સે. ને જીગલા આ મારો ભાણો અભિષેક સે. મોટો સાય્બ સે. રજા હતી એટલે મેં આયાં રોકાવા આવવાની તાંયણ કરી તી. એટલે રોકવા આવ્યા સે. ને ભાણા આ જીગલો પણ જુનેગઢમાં વકીલનું ભણેલો સે. પણ આયાં તો જીગલાનાં બાપા પાસે એ સમયે પૈસા નોતા. એટલે એનાં બાપે જુનેગઢ જાવાની ના પાડી દીધી તી. પણ અમારામાં ભેણેલો-ગણેલો માટી આ એક જ. અટાણે ચ્યાર(ચાર) ગામનો કંદોઈ સે. જીગલા! ભજીયાંનો સામાન સુ-સુ લખાવવાનો સે? ઓડર દઈ દે.”

જીગલાએ પોતાનાં આર્થિક કારણોસર જીવનમાં સફળ ન થવાની બાબતે શરમથી મારી સામે થોડું હસ્યો, પરંતુ કઈ બોલ્યો નહીં. જીગલાએ દુકાનવાળા વેપારીને સમાન લખાવવા માટે કહ્યું,

” ચાલો શેઠ. કિલો એક બટેટા, બે કિલો ચણાનો લોટ, 50 ગ્રામ સોજી, અઢી સો ગ્રામ અજમો, બસો ગ્રામ ધાણાજીરું ધાણાજીરું કરો. લાલ મરચાં અને કોથમીર તો હું મારી દુકાનેથી જ લાવ્યો છું. સુખાકાકા મારે આજ રાત્રિની લાઈટ છે. એટલે હું પાણી વારવા નીકળું હોનેં? તમે આવો એટલે મને જણાવજો, હું વાડીએ પહોંચી જઈશ. પછી પોગ્રામ કરીએ.”

આમ હું અને સુખામામા ઘરે નીકળ્યાં અને જીગલો પોતાની વાડી તરફ નીકળ્યો. આ વાતની ચર્ચા ઘરે પહોંચતી વેળાએ મેં મામા સાથે કરી,

“જીગલાની વાતમાં મેં એ અદા નિહાળી જે અદા શહેરમાં કામ કરતા માર્કેટિંગ લોકોમાં પણ ન હોય. અહીં કેવી દુવિધા મામા! કુશળતા હોવા છતાં આર્થિક બાબત જીગલા જેવા હજારો હોશિયાર લોકોની કુશળતાથી દુનિયાને અજાણ કરી દ્યે છે. મને આ બાબત ગમી નહીં. મારું માનવું છે કે જે લાયકાત ધરાવે છે તેને તેનાં હકનું મળવું જ જોઈએ.”

“હા બેટા, બધાંયનું ઉપરથી લખાઈને જ આયવું હોય. એનાથી કોઈ નો સટકી સકે. પણ જીગલો હોશિયાર સે. ઘણુંય કમાવી લ્યે સે. અડખે-પડખેનાં ગામમાં એનું નામ સે.”

આમ અમારી વાતોમાં ઘર કેમ આવી ગયું તેની કોઈ ભાન જ ના રહી. મામાએ નાનાએ શેકેલી સોપારી આપી. અમે ફળિયામાં નાનાનાં પલંગની બાજુનાં પલંગમાં બેઠાં. ત્યાં જ નાનાએ તે કાળું ઝભલું ખોલ્યું અને તેમાંથી એક મુઠ્ઠીમાં સમાય એટલી સોપારી પંચ આંગળીઓથી મદદથી ચપટી ભરી, અને મોઢામાં સેકેલી સોપારીનો એક ફાંકડો ભર્યો. જે રીતે મને લાગ્યું નાનાને રાત્રીનાં ભોજન બાદ શેકેલી સોપારી ખાવાની આદત હશે. નાનાએ બુચૂડ-બુચૂડ કરતા પોતાનું મોઢું ચલાવ્યું. મામાએ નાનાને જીગલાને ઓર્ડર આપી દેવાની જાણ કરી અને ઉભા થઈ વાડીએ લઇ જવાનાં સામાનની તૈયારીઓ કરવા લાગ્યા. મેં જિજ્ઞાસાથી નાનાને કહ્યું,

“નાના તમારી કંઈક જૂની વાતો કહોને મારે સાંભળવી છે.”

નાનાની વાત સાંભળવા માટે નાનાએ બાળકોને અને ચાંદનીને બોલાવવાનું કહ્યું. હું તેમને બોલાવી આવ્યો. ચાંદની અને બાળકો નાનાનાં પલંગ પાસે આવી ગયાં. ચાંદની મારી બાજુમાં બેઠી જયારે બાળકોને નાનાએ પોતાનાં ખોળામાં લીધાં. ત્યારબાદ ચાવેલી સોપારીની ભોંય પર પિચકારી મારી અને દેશી કાઠીયાવાડીમાં નાનાએ પોતાની વાત રજુઆત કરી; તે વાતનું મારા શબ્દોમાં વર્ણન કરું તો કંઈક આમ હતું………

“બેટા અમારા સમયે તમારા જેવું સુવિધાસભર જીવન નહોતું. લગભગ આજથી પચાસેક વર્ષ પહેલાની વાત કરું છું. પૈસાનાં અભાવથી શહેર જઈ શકાતું નહોતું એટલે જીવન ગુજારો અહીં જ કરવાનો વિકલ્પ રહ્યો. મારા સોળ વર્ષની ઉંમરે લગ્ન થઇ ગયા હતા. આથી પત્નીની જવાબદારી માથે આવી ગઈ હતી. બાપુજીની છવ્વીસ નંબરની(વીઘા) જમીન હતી. પરંતુ અમેં ચાર ભાઈઓ હોવાથી જમીનનાં ચાર ટુકડા થયાં. સમાન ભાગે સૌને મતભેદ ન થાય એમ બાપુજીએ જમીન વહેંચી આપી. ત્યારે મારી ઉંમર બાવીસ વર્ષ જેટલી થઇ હશે. ત્યારે તારો સુખોમામો પણ બે વર્ષનો થઇ ગયો હતો. આમ મારાં ભાગમાં ચાર નંબર જેટલો એક ટુકડો આવ્યો (ચાર વીઘા જેટલી જમીન ભાગમાં આવી) મનમાં ક્યાંક મૂંઝવણ હતી કે ચાર નંબરમાં સુખો શું કરી લેશે? અત્યારે જમાનો શિક્ષણ તરફ પ્રગતિ કરી રહ્યો છે, તો સુખો તેમના છોકરાવને શું ખવડાવશે? એટલે મેં મનોબળ મક્કમ કરી લીધું હતું કે મારે મારાં દીકરા/ભાવિ દીકરાઓ  માટે જમીન લેવી જ છે. ભલે મારે તૂટીને ત્રણ થઇ જવું પડે. ભાર જુવાનીમાં શરીર ચાલે છે તો મહેનત કરી લઈશ. પરંતુ છોકરાઓ હેરાન ન થવા જોઈએ. ભાગમાં આવેલા ચાર નંબરનાં ટુકડામાં જ મહેનતથી કામ કરવાનું ચાલુ કર્યું. પરંતુ જેટલી જોઈએ એટલી આવત થાય એમ નહોંતી. ત્યારે જમીન તો સસ્તી હતી પરંતુ ખેત મજૂરી કરીને પૈસા એકઠાં કરવા ઘણાં મુશ્કેલ હતા. પરંતુ મનમાં વિચારી જ લીધું હતું કે જમીન તો લેવી જ છે. માટે બીજા જમીનદારોને ત્યાં ભાગ્યું(જેમાં મજૂરને ખેતી કરવાની હોય છે અને જમીનદારને નફામાંથી ભાગ આપવાનો હોય છે) શોધવા માટે માટે રખડવાનું ચાલુ કર્યું. આખરે એક દરબારની પચ્ચીસ નંબરની(25 વિઘાની) લીલી જમીન(ખેતી લાયક જમીન) ખાલી પડી હતી. તેને ત્યાં ભાગ્યું રાખવાનું નક્કી થયું. તેમાં પાક સારો થવાથી દસ હાજર રૂપિયા નીકળ્યાં હશે. આવી રીતે એક દાયકા સુધી ચાલ્યું. ત્યાં સુખો જુવાનીમા પ્રવેશ કરી રહ્યો હતો. મને આ ખરો સમય લાગ્યો. એક દાયકામાં લગભગ ત્રીસ હજાર જેટલાં ખેતમજૂરી કરીને મહેનતનાં પરસેવાનાં ટીપાથી એકઠાં કરી લીધા હતા. આ સમય મને સાહસ કરવા લાયક લાગ્યો અને હું ગામમાં કોઈને જમીન વહેંચવાની હોય તેની જાણ કરવા નીકળી પડ્યો.”

નાણાંની વાત ચાલુ રહી………

“ગામમાં એક પટેલની જમીન હતી. જેમાં જમીનની બાજુમાં શિવનાં પુજારીએ તે પટેલનું ખૂન કરી નાખ્યું હતું. પુજારીને શિવ મંદિર અને પટેલને પોતાની જમીનની હદને બાબતે રોજ માથાકૂટ રહેતી. એવામાં એક વાર પટેલ રાત્રે પાણી વારવા માટે આવ્યો હશે. ત્યારે પુજારીએ મનોમન યોજના ઘડી રાખી હશે. પાણી વારીને રાત્રીનાં ત્રણેક વાગ્યે પટેલ સુવા ગયો. થાક લાગવાનાં કારણે પટેલને ગાઢ ઊંઘ આવતા ક્ષણભરની પણ વાર ના લાગી. પુજારીએ મોકો જોઈ વેર લેવાનું વિચાર્યું અને ત્રિશુલ લઇ પટેલ પર આક્રમણ કરી દીધું. ત્રિશુલ પેટમાં ભોંકી દેવાનાં કારણે ઘટના સ્થળે જ પટેલનું મોત નીપજ્યું અને પૂજારી તે ઘટના બાદ ક્યાં નાસી છૂટ્યો તે હજુ સુધી કોઈ નથી જાણતું. પરંતુ આ બાબતનાં પટેલનાં કુટુંબમાં ઘેરા પ્રત્યાઘાત પડ્યા. તે સમયનાં પાકની કોઈએ માવજત ના કરી. જેથી પાક બાળી ગયો. ત્યારબાદ એ જમીન પર કોઈ ખેતી નહોતું કરતુ. કુટુંબીજનોનું માનવું હતું કે પટેલની આત્મા ત્યાં ભટકે છે.”

આટલું બોલ્યાં ત્યાં નાનાનાં મોઢાની બધી સોપારી ચવાઈને ચૂરો થઇ ગઈ હતી. અમારી અને નાનાનાં વાતની તલ્લીનતા તૂટી. નાનાનાં હોઠની બાજુથી થોડી માત્રામાં સોપારીનો રસ સરકી આવ્યો હતો. તેને લૂંછી પોતાની સફેદ મૂછ મરડી નાનાએ મામીને પાણી લાવવા માટે સાદ કર્યો. મામી પાણીનો પિત્તળનો કરસ્યો(લોટો) લઈને આવ્યા નાનાનાં પલંગ પાસે આવ્યા. મામા પણ વાડીએ રોકાવા માટે ઉપયોગી હાથબતી, ગોદડાં અને છાલ લઈને તૈયાર જ હતાં. એવામાં નાનાએ પોતાની વાત આગળ વધારી એટલે મામા પણ મારી બાજુમાં બેઠાં. મામાને જગ્યા આપવા માટે ચાંદની ઉભી થઇ અને ફળિયામાં જમીન પર બેસી ગઈ. નાનાએ પોતાની વાત આગળ વધારી…..

“બેટા આપણે ભૂત-પ્રેતમાં માનીએ નહીં. પરંતુ મારે ગામનાં લોકોનું તો શું કહેવું? મને આ પટેલની જમીન વહેંચવાની બાબત વિશે જાણકારી મળી. હું કોઈ પણ કાળે આ જમીનનો સોદો અટકાવવાં માંગતો નહોતો. જમીન લીલી હતી સાથે ફળદ્રુપ કાળી માટીની હતી. આથી મેં પટેલને ત્યાં જમીનની વાત આગળ વધારી. મારી વાત પટેલનાં ઘરે પહોંચી. પટેલનાં વડવાઓ સાથે હું સોદો કરવા બેઠો. 23 નંબરની(વિઘાની) એ જમીન હતી. જમીન ફળદ્રુપ અને લીલી હતી, પરંતુ કુટુંબમાં ઘટેલી ઘટનાને કારણે કોઈ તે જમીન પર પાક લેવા તૈયાર નહોતું. જમીનની કિંમત બાંસઠ(62) હજાર બોલાઈ. સાંઇઠ(60) હજારની મેં માંગણી મૂકી અને અંતે જમીનનો સોદો થયો. પરંતુ જમીન મારે નામે કરાવવાનાં સરકારી કાગળિયાં થાય તે પહેલાં મેં વડવાઓ સમક્ષ મારી વાત રજુ કરી. મારી પાસે અત્યારે લગભગ ત્રીસેક હાજર જેટલી રોકડ મૂડી પડી છે. મને બાકીની ત્રીસેક હજારની મૂડી એકત્રિત કરવા માટે મહિના જેટલો સમય જોઈ છે. આમ મને સમય આપવામાં આવ્યો અને મેં મૂડીની શોધમાં સાગા-વહાલાઓમાં ગામતરાં ચાલુ કર્યા. મેં ઘણાં લોકોનો સંપર્ક કર્યો પરંતુ સાગા-વહાલામાં કોઈ આર્થિક રીતે સક્ષમ નહોતું. આથી મૂડીનો એટલો મેળ જામ્યો નહોતો. છતાં પણ પાંચ હાજર રૂપિયા સગાઓમાંથી મેળ થઇ ગયા હતા. ઘરે પહોંચી તમારાં નાનીને રૂપિયાની મેં વાત કરી. હવે પાંત્રીસેક હાજર જેટલી મૂડી અમારી પાસે હતી. આથી મેં વિચાર કર્યો ચાર નંબરની જમીન વહેંચી નાખું. તમારા નાનીએ પણ મને હિમ્મત આપી. તમારાં નાની ત્યારના જમાનાનાં લાકડાનાં પેટારા પાસે ગયા અને પોતાનાં સોનાનાં ઘરેણાં મારાં હાથે ધાર્યા. મારામાં હિંમત ભરતાં  મને કહ્યું, “જાઓ પટેલ! સોદો કરીને જ પાછા આવજો” એ સમયે તારાં નાનીની હિમ્મત હોઈને હરખથી મારી આંખો ભરાઈ આવી હતી.”

આટલી વાત કરતા જ નાનાની આંખો ભીની થઇ ગઈ હતી. સૌ તલ્લીનતાથી નાણાંની વાત સાંભળી રહ્યા હતા. છોકરાઓ માટે આ બધું અવનવું હતું માટે તેઓ પણ કુતુહલથી બધું નિહાળતા હતા. એવામાં નાનાએ કોઈને ખબર ન પડે એમ આંખ પર હાથ મૂકી મુનિ થવા જનારી આંખોને લૂંછી. તેઓએ વાત આગળ વધારી…..

“અઠવાડિયાની અંદર મારી જમીનનો શોદો થયો. મારી જમીન પાણીવાળી અને ફળદ્રુપ હતી. માટે જમીન બાર હજારમાં વહેંચાઈ. તમારા નાનીનાં ઘરેણાં ગીરવી મૂકી પંદર હાજર રૂપિયા સોની પાસેથી લઇ આવ્યો. હવે માત્ર ત્રણ હાજર રૂપિયાની જરૂર હતી. બધી મૂડી લઇ હું પટેલનાં ઘરે ગયો. ફરી વડવાઓની સભા બેઠી. મેં વડીલોનીની સભા સમક્ષ મારી વાત મૂકી કે, મારી પાસે હાલ સતાવન હજાર રૂપિયા પડ્યા છે. નક્કી થયેલી રકમમાં માત્ર ત્રણ હજાર જ ઘટે છે. હું કોલ આપું છું કે પટેલની જમીનમાં પહેલા પાકમાં જે નફો થશે તેમાંથી બાકી રહેતા ત્રણ હજાર હું ચુકતા કરી આપીશ. જો આપ સર્વે મારા કોલની કિંમત હોય અને આપ સર્વેની સંમતિ હોય તો પટેલની જમીન મારે નામ કરવા આગ્રહ કરું છું. સભામાં ઉપસ્થિતિ સર્વે વડીલો સંમત થયા”.

ત્યારે એ જમાનામાં કોલની બહુ કિંમત હતી. અત્યારે તો છોકરાઓ બોલે પણ કાંઈ અને કરે પણ કાંઈ. રામાયણમાં કહેવાય છે ને કે રઘુકુલ રીતિ સદા ચાલી આયી પ્રાણ જાયે પણ વચન ના જાયે. ખેર એ છોડો!

“પટેલની ગીરની જમીન મારે નામ થઇ અને બીજે વર્ષે સારો પાક થવાથી ત્રણ હજાર ભરીને મેં મારો કોલ પૂરો કર્યો. આજ તારારો મામો જે જમીન પર રાજ કરે છે એ જમીન ખરીદવા માટે તમારાં નાનાએ આકાશ-પાતાળ એક કરી દીધા હતા. પુરી જુવાની ભાવિ પેઢીને નામ કરી દીધી હતી. પરજા સુખી તો તેના માં-બાપ સુખી. પોતાનાં પરજાનાં સુખમાં જ માતા-પિતાનું સુખ હોય છે. તેમની ખુશીને માટે દુનિયાનાં કોઈ પણ માતા-પિતા જમીન-આસમાન એક કરવાથી પણ પાછળ નથી હટતાં.”

અમે સૌ તલ્લીન થઈને નાનાની સામે જોઈ રહ્યા હતા. સૌની આંખો ભીની થઇ ગઈ હતી. મને વિચાર આવતા હતા કે, આ વૃદ્ધે ભાવિ પેઢીને સુખી જીવન આપવા માટે પોતાની જવાનીમાં કેટલું ઘસાયાં છે. ખરેખર અત્યારની પેઢી પહેલાંના ડોસલાંઓની જેમ આવડાં મોટા મહેનતનાં પગલાં ન ભરી શકે. અત્યારની પેઢી પોતાની ભાવિ પેઢી માટે મનની બુદ્ધિનો ઉપયોગ કરીને મહેલ ઉભો કરી શકે પરંતુ શારીરિક મહેનતથી શરીર ભાંગીને પોતાની પેઢી માટે આ હદ સુધી ઘસાય એવું સાહસ પહેલાંનાં સમયનાં ઘરડાઓ જ કરી શકે. મનમાં બોલાય ગયું “ધન્ય છે!”
