Dhekale: Beautiful Place than Strange Name
Dhekale Dam (Wandri Dam) is an earth fill dam on Wandri River near Palghar, Thane district in the state of Maharashtra in India. The Dhekale Dam is located in Saphala, a train station that falls in between Virar-Palghar route. We Traveled To This Place From Virar. Due to Rainy Season Beauty of the Place Was At its peak. When We Heared The Name Of Place During Our Visit It Sound Strange But Beauty Of Place is Far Ahead Of Name. Dhekale (Known As Ganje Dhekale) Have Beautiful Greenery Surrounded by Small Water Falls On Road. There Are Few Small Homes near Dam and the Dam is The Great Water Source for Villagers. I experienced that during monsoon this dam and the surroundings look stunningly green and therefore a great idea to plan a picnic during the season. There is no railway station near to Ganje Dhekale in less than 10 km. So You Have To Travel By Road To This Place From Either Palghar Or Virar.
